I grew up near DC but can do a fairly good New York accent. I spent a good part of my youth watching the Bowery Boys (AKA the East Side Kids) on TV. Huntz Hall, Bobby Jordan, and especially Leo Gorcey-- "Don't boddeh me. I'm tryin' to constipate". Also Archie Bunker--"Everybody hates Joisey but somebody's gotta live there".
Few persons know it but the late Mr. O'Connor had degrees in English and was a teacher of that subject IIRC. You'd hardly have known it from the way Archie Bunker mangled the English language with his NYC accent and pronouncing of words. However that accent was spot on. Loved how he always called Gloria "little goil". And his "huh"

And Bible quotes: "In pain shall youse give birth."
Haha! My ny accent is real! The last generation in nyc to speak with a true ny accent were us who were born in the 80s! Can't get no better than a nyc accent! Love my accent, wouldn't change it for the world!
