Here's another thread i thought might be cool, where we can list events taking place in the city or our hood and maybe some of us can actually meet up and enjoy the city together!
I'll start with a few in my neck of the woods:
1. New York Botanical Garden's annual train show: this is a huge event in the Garden's Enid Haupf Conservatory, where the garden hosts it's major shows. There's always one going on, they're all awesome, and each lasts for a few months and draws huge crowds.
The train show, which runs from I think right after Thanksgiving til after Christmas, features replicas of NYC landmarks, constructed from natural materials such as tree bark, etc. with tons of toy trains running on tracks surrounding it, all in a holiday setting.
Check out the New York Botanical Gardens website for more info.
2. The Rambling House is having their annual halloween bash this Saturday, Oct 27. The afternoon will have a children's party, and the adult fun will start around 8:30 or 9 with a costume contest and other cool stuff. They are a well known bar/restaurant which hosts bands (I think nightly) and a big attraction in the Woodlawn area (the Irish conclave in the Northwest Bronx, just south of Riverdale).
I'm going to this one, so if anyone else wants to meet up, just DM me!
PS: re the holiday train show at the Botanical Gardens (or any other events at the garden for that matter, year round):
I've been a member of the garden for years and have built up a modest collection of Members parking passes, so if anyone is interested in meeting up at any time and is driving in, DM me!
