For the past couple of months they insist on shutting the F train down between 18 Av and Jay St for the entire weekend. Makes my trip from Avenue P to Bergen St which usually takes 20 minutes take an hour if not more. Anybody know what they are doing?

They're making repairs to the viaduct structure.

And the same goes for the C train...and the M...and the E.
Like playing Russian Roulette.

The "reasons" are just excuses. This is a concerted effort to cut service on weekends without actually saying so. These weekend trains are as crowded as rush hour trains and I'm sure it's planned that way.
They'd play the same games on weekdays but then BUSINESS would start to yell...and we know they listen when big money talks.
But the riding public can go to Hell as far as the MTA is concerned.

Yeah, and Obama was born in Kenya. Yay, conspiracy theories!

They've been rebuilding the Culver Viaduct for a while now. The project is supposed to be done next summer. IIRC.

I'm sure they would rather pay all the workers to pretend to fix the structure and have extra bus drivers for the shuttles instead.

Do you really think these repairs are unnecessary and it's cheaper to do all this than to just run service normally? I'm sure if the MTA could get away with not doing this work, they would.

Conspiracy Theories???...and THAT is what you attribute our expalanation of rotten weekend subway service that we see EVERY WEEKEND for years on end...without fail.

You, kidoo, have a screw loose, or work for the MTA.

Say it loudly and learn: THEY ARE NOT DOING WORK...JUST CURTAILING SERVICE! (If work was done we'd clearly see the results after all this time...there is NONE!

We all have eyes and we see.

If you keep trains running all the time, when do you have the opportunity to make repairs? Infrastructure doesn't last forever. It takes time and money to keep it in serviceable.

Case in point: The G train along Queens Boulevard

Aren't they supposed to add express service when the work on the F train is completed, though?

I wonder how long it will be for some Sunday to occur when not a single train is running on it's designated track.
