I know. It sort of went downhill after the last owners retired and let their kids take it over. I don't think the kids ever worked behind the counter making the food like their parents did. They said it was because of the rent, but if you look at all their other locations across the US they all closed too.

yes they are and it's sad.
I hope nothing happens to Katz's. Katz's is my favorite NYC deli but a pastrami sandwich is about 21 dollars now.
There was an article in the NYT about it, and I noticed that they politely ignored the fact that it's not considered to be very good in terms of food any more, and it's been mostly a tourist-trap in recent years. I only feel slightly nostalgic because my mother used to love it in the years when she was young and living in NYC. Of course, she'd never been to Katz's.
