I've been dreading getting another contact lens exam after paying $150 for one last year, but I'm running out of contacts soon. Any contact-wearing CD'ers know where I could get the best deal on the highway robbery that is a contact lens fitting?
Perhaps it's time I save up my pennies for Lasik...
Not sure about Manhattan but I think the one I go to in Queens is $75 but I might be misremembering. You would have to call to check if you're interested. I will PM you the name of it if you want me to.
also suggest searching yelp for contact lenses Manhattan. You might have to read the reviews to find the prices but I would think it would be worth the time to do so.
Also if it's been less than one full year since your last exam (even one day less) and you don't think your prescription changed, just order more of the same contacts from Vision Direct online. Voila, only have to pay for one exam every two years.
Well As an avid CL wearer I have to say I used to spend a lot of $ from private optical shops for a 6 mth supply of lenses. When I had insurance I would use it for the lenses on my frames and frames and just pay the difference out of pocket (i alternated between the 2 and I have high prescription so a pair of lenses and frames would run me no less than $450) I'm telling you it was COSTLY!!!!
Until one day i ventured out to BJ's (don't laugh) I was unemployed and no insurance and I was running out of my CL.. Well I took my CL boxes to BJ's to order another 6 month supply and was I shocked at the price.. I only paid like $100 for a 6 mths supply of the SAME exact CL brand i was wearing whereas, not even 6 mths prior I had to pay $275+ at the local optical store!!! I was soo happy let me tell you I ended up getting a new pair of frames and lenses from there and I could not be more pleased with their prices! They almost always have specials.. The only thing is they don't accept insurance.. hence why i went, BUT if you have one near you give it a shot, go inquire and look around. I think eye exams are $50, they have great frame selections and every brand of CL.
