Hi, it is my first time renting and I am looking at 2 places in the 90s in Bay Ridge close to the 95th station.

The first one is $925, on 6th floor, older looking, interesting pre war details, separate kitchen, but smaller than the other one, kinda stuffy w/ loud radiator, has elevator, heat & hot water inc, very dusty b/c it hadn't been cleaned yet, generally not very clean looking.

The second one is $1000, on first floor facing courtyard, prewar but newer looking interior, cleaner, more space, not as cozy, heat & hot water, no elevator, but doesn't matter b/c 1st floor, separate kitchen, closer to subway.

I was looking for something close to the $900 range. My income isn't great, but I have a decent savings account. Any suggestions? Which one would you take?

Also, could anyone give me some info on this area?

Thanks!

I would go with the 6th floor. You can always clean the place up and the higher up you are the quieter it is typically.

I would not take a 1st floor apartment if you are sensitive to noise
