And I'd also like to add that depending on where in Manhattan you are, the outer boroughs (except Staten Island) might not be a bad trip. I mean, it's basically as easy to get to an area up on the Grand Concourse as it is to get to Inwood or Washington Heights. Just take the (D) instead of the (A)).
