I want to sublet for a year. I've gone over what must be provided to LL and have a couple questions:

Does the LL actually have to give written consent after I've provided all the info? Can't he just let the 30 days go by and no answer will mean I can sublet?

Also, what constitutes a family crisis?

I want to sublet my apt because my father is old and in ill-health and I want to spend some time with him. Is that sufficient reason for the landlord to allow me to sublet?

what "the 30 days"? depends what your lease says. i doubt there is some perceived market standard that you can do something if someone doesn't say no within 30 days.

whether your landlord considers anything what you want will depend on your powers of persuasion. doing it in a letter is not using those powers to the best of your ability.

Your "family crisis" has little to do with it, other than to imply that you will, indeed, be returning to your apartment.

If you don't KNOW, why give wrong advice?

It has nothing to do with any "perceived market standard"; what is that anyway and where you get such a thing?

It has to do with the LAW! Simple as that.
