I am here traveling with a few minors and although I am not totally new to the city, they are. I can't always commute with them to all of their appointments, so what advice can you all give me to share with them on which areas to stay away from, which areas to simply keep their eyes and ears open, and what are the best subways to take when you have multiple stops all over? i really appreciate the help

Those are really vague questions. How long will you be here, where will you be, and what kinds of things will you be doing? It is impossible to give meaningful advice without more details.

You should take whatever subways get you to where you are going... There's really no better way to answer your question about subways.

NYC is pretty safe so unless you will be in really bad neighborhoods, just be careful like you would normally be anywhere else and you should be fine.

Hire or commission your self a native as a guide. Getting lost in the outer borough jungles for a newbie sucks.

I agree. Newbies might be able to rely on their trusty handy dandy iphone for help.

Gangs of afro-headed youths in denim vests chanting warriors come out to play-ee-yay.

Don't travel late at night by subway without knowing exactly where you are going.

If you have young ladies, dress them like proper young women, and not like jr hoes.
