Hi all,

I will be spending some time in New York soon and want to do a vocal jazz program.

There are millions of jazz academies. To narrow down my search, I was wondering if anyone could recommend one/a few in particular?

Thanks

Unlike acting, vocal performance is taught through private lessons. A short “course,” even if it’s offered, probably won’t do much good. I have a degree in music, but that’s not what you want. If you pay a school for private lessons, you’re just adding to your expense.

I suggest finding a good private voice teacher and supplementing your lessons with classes in music theory, improvisation, and history.

Check out the New School. They have a jazz department. Maybe possible to sign up for a course for a semester.
