Brooklyn Navy Yard. Back in the day, I kept hoping they'd put them up for auction; but, then that is *really* close to the projects (if memory serves)!
I recall a big revitalization with a supermarket and all was planned for across the street. Don't know if it ever came off.
They are still doing it. They're in the process of taking proposals for the building now. I hate the plan personally. I live a couple of blocks from it and I would hate to see it turn into a major shopping corridor. But I guess everyone cries NIMBY when a proposal like this rolls through. But I really HATE what they did to admirals row. They had an engineer in who inspected the buildings and said they were excellent candidates for rehabilitation. And what did the city do? Tore em right down.
