Okay so, Ten Eyck Street may or may not be directly in or across the street from the Williamsburg Projects. Depends on the address.

That being said, the Williamsburg Houses aren't that bad by today's standards. You will probably find many people walking around. It isn't the absolute safest considering they are the projects, but I think you'll be fine.

I've walked down Graham avenue which cuts directly through the projects various times at around 12-2 am and been fine each time. I've even saw a white 20 something year old just standing waiting for the bus with her guitar.

The area around ten eyck, stagg, humboldt is like night and day compared to what it was ten years ago... It's world's safer now than it was back then... That being said, there are still plenty of shady people that live in the area and that live around the area that would not hesitate to rob you if you show absolutely no common sense like so many transplants do over there... Don't walk around with your $1000 ipad/iphone/droid/macbook, etc. out in the open at night time like this is some utopia where bad things don't happen... The biggest crime statistic that has shot up in the 94th, 90th and 83rd precincts are robberies as well as grand larcenies...

If you show this basic level of street smarts/common sense in that area you should be more than fine... For the record, Ten eyck while close to grand street campus is a different ball game... Because of the students who hang around and some of the establishments in the area, that immediate area by the L train itself isn't always good... There was a murder on that same block about a year or two year ago where a stray bullet hit someone waiting for the bus... Just be aware of your surroundings and if you can, don't walk alone and don't act scared and you'll be fine...

thank you so much. im talking more of the section east of grand street campus which looks pretty industrial on google maps. but i have to walk and wait at the l station and that probably will happen very late at night on a weekend.
im used to big city's but all of them i know well, and all of them are in europe which feels like "home" to me. but if youre used to city's you know that you betther check where you are going in the middle of the night...especially if youre new to everything.

On a weekend Grand Street on the L train's pretty safe. I doubt you'll have any problems. Where the factories are is a little desolate, but that should be the only problem you have.

Don't walk with your iPhone out. Pay attention. That is all.
