Diverse? No. But it is slightly more diverse than it was ten years ago... Growing hispanic and asian populations. Still about 75% Black. Don't know too much about it but it seems like a solid area that's family oriented... Too quiet for me though. Being in Laurelton, you'll always have a couple of knuckleheads that'll cross over from the South Jamaica border. That said, it's nothing you won't find in any other area in the city...

With the username bajan246... I think it's pretty safe to say he's not scared of black folks ...

It's a nice area, but almost all black. Easily one of the least diverse sections of Queens and probably the whole city, but there's nothing wrong with that.

It's mostly Jamaicans, Trinidadis immigrants. Solid middle-class hard-working people. My friend (Trinidadi) just finished renovating a Tudor house. Many new homes that got built after demolishing the old ones. You'll need a car though.

A lot of hard-working black americans still live in the area as well. Theres busses that run up and down Merrick blvd day and night so u dont really HAVE to have a car.

There are buses and and a LIRR station. No subway. It's mostly single and two family homes. The properties seem kept up. The elementary school is relatively ok.
