Nope its people from outside the community coming to Woodlawn especially after the pubs and bars kick out and violently robbing people who are too drunk to fight back, there has also been a couple of sexual assaults. Check out the "take Woodlawn back" page on FB. Its your typical thug types who have been committing these assaults. Woodlawn is still a great place to spend a night drinking but its wise to watch yourself when walking back home. There are of course far worse neighbourhoods in the Bronx than Woodlawn, its a little gem

So my apartment I was going to rent in Astoria fell through. I am unfimiliar with Woodside and Sunnyside, however people say it is a good area.

I love the area of Steinway in Astoria. Are there any areas similiar in Woodside or Sunnyside?

If you're talking about the commercial activity of the Steinway area, then stick within a few blocks of the 7.

What's so appealing about Steinway?

I prefer Ditmars. Much nicer and far less congested.

Anyway Sunnyside > Woodside. I wouldn't mind living there.

Actually it feels like the store owners on Queens Blvd are more friendlier to deal with than on Steinway and seems to get better towards Maspeth IMO.
