Ok everyone I just wanted to thank you for helping me on the Bay Ridge post. I narrowed my search to Sunnyside and Woodside. Any pros and cons you guys can give me? Nightlife comparison? (Not looking for nightclubs just a few bars/restaurants to relax after work)...Friendly atmosphere? Are you more likely to gain friendships in one neighborhood verse the other?

Any input would be great thanks again!

Sunnyside will be a little bit more expensive than Woodside due to it being closer, but not by much as they are right next to each other. Sunnyside is like a small community, I'm not sure how other areas are but there are a lot of events that go on within Sunnyside that I wouldn't have expected. for Christmas we had a tree lighting ceremony, and we have a lot of little local restaurant eatery festival things.

Nightlife in Sunnyside isn't that great. There's a ton of pubs and small bars here that are open late, but if you're talking about clubs and bars to go dance and get smashed with your friends there are a few places you can go to.

Sunnyside also has a very friendly atmosphere. Whenever I am out walking my dog we always end up talking to other people walking down the street whether they have a dog or not. Also, if you have a dog I would reallllly recommend sunnyside because there is going to be a brand new dog park that will be completed in the spring/summer of this year.

I can't really say much about Woodside, as I only looked at 2 apartments there, but I liked Sunnyside a lot more. I walked to the dog park over in Woodside and I liked the vibe in Sunnyside more. It also seemed a bit cleaner too.

IMO if the night life you are looking for is the neighborhood bar/pub atmosphere, then Sunnyside is a great place. Like skinnay said, it's got the feel of a small community, and there are lots of bars scattered around. The neighborhood has a lot of Irish people/influence, and I've never had a problem striking up conversations with strangers sitting next to me at a bar in Sunnyside. The area north of Queens Blvd is the nicer area.

I ended up living in Jackson Heights because I found a bigger, nicer, and less expensive apartment, but I liked the atmosphere in Sunnyside more.

I lived a year in Sunnyside some time ago. It is a nice area with a convenient short subway ride to Midtown Manhattan. There are some bars/pubs in the neighborhood.

No nightlife worth mentioning in Sunnyside; I don't know Woodside.

Thanks for all the input! I do have a dog so that would be awesome. I'm not into clubs and all that just a bar where I can sit relax and get some beers. Sounds ideal for me I appreciate the input.. A "neighborhood" feel is important to me so it makes me happy to hear that Sunnyside is like that!

Sunnyside is a superior neighborhood is most respects. I personally find Woodside fairly depressing in comparision.

I live in Woodside and there is literally nothing to do here, unless you live in the 58th-61st Roosevelt Ave. area, which is where all the restaurants and bars are, but almost nothing compared to the bars in Sunnyside. Popular food is slowing developing...SLOWWWLY. I think you'll like Sunnyside more. The nightlife scene seems more lively and there's tons of restaurants there. Plus, Woodside is kind of scary at night.
