FWIW: There are two different songs with the same title, "New York, New York."
The most well-known one is the Frank Sinatra and/or Liza Minelli version, but the original song was featured in the 1949 movie, "On the Town." The lyrics go like this:
New York, New York!
A helluva town.
The Bronx is up and the Battery's down.
And people ride in a hole in the ground.
New York, New York!
It's a helluva town!
For a classic, I'm going with squeezeboxgal's suggestion of the tune from "On the Town." But for something a little more modern, I vote for Ace Frehley's "Back in the New York Groove."
