Yes. I do so much agree. Many of the protests against legalizing are motivated by the remuneration that these folks are getting, directly or indirectly, from keeping drugs illegal.

The way to solve this problem is the same way that worked before, with alcohol, legalize it. Tax it. Control the production and distribution. At least those tax dollars will go to things that help the public, in general as well as setting up workable and accessible rehab for addicts - not to mention all the jobs it will create, no?
