I get the thought that there has been so much twisted propaganda levied at people concerning drugs and their danger that they don't believe any of it.

The waste of money on drugs is, to me, ridiculous. Then some drugs permanently change the pleasure centers of the brain and some/most who take the drugs and stop will never be able to have those natural responses to life that never drugged persons do, loving sunsets and scenery and music and art.

It's as though the pleasure centers have been overstimulated and burned out.

I think it's just stupid to take drugs, but they should be legal. A crime is considered to happen when one person harms another in some way. Drug taking, to me, means something is lacking in someone's life or their attitude to life. It starts, I think, with a mental disorder.

These people need treatment, not punishment. They take drugs out of weakness. Pushing them lower in life, prison, making life even more difficult for them, is not going to fix the problem.
They need to not start taking drugs which can best be achieved by long prison sentences both for sellers and for chronic users.

What is the basis for this statement? It certainly isn't research.

WOW! Disagreeing with people like you equals trolling?

Welcome to the land of liberal fascism where we who disagree with the liberal dogma dare not express ourselves.

Common sense. How many kids go on the 3rd rail if they know they'd be electrocuted? How many kids would get involved with drugs if the law had zero tolerance?

It's more expensive for a taxpayer like myself to keep them imprisioned. Let people smoke up and shoot up in their veins what they want to.

Cannabis can treat 126 medical conditions often more effectively, more safely & with fewer unpleasant side effects than pills, see rxmarijuana.com/ Granny Storm Crow's list has 1,000+ studies and verifiable anecdotes about it's safety & ability to treat many dozens of conditions, arranged alphabetically by conditions helped. Wikipedia has much good info, too, mostly with sources cited.

A medical researcher estimated that if people gave up tobacco & daily drinking, by switching to cannabis, most would live 8-24 years longer.

The drug war is responsible for most homicides, 10,000+ a year. Also, many with depression kill themselves, about 31,000 Americans a year. Big Pharma has admitted some of their anti-depressants cause suicides! They were based on theory, not facts. I've never heard of anyone committing suicide or homicide while experiencing effects of cannabis. 26% of medical users say they're treating depression.
Big pharma has no drugs that are good for controlling anger, so many use it for that. US Dispensatory of 1851 recommended cannabis for all mental health issues (Licit & Illicit Drugs, Consumers Union book)

The drug war is responsible for most stealing, so if you want to be robbed at gunpoint or have your home broken into, just vote for Dems or Reps & they'll keep drug war going until world ends. They're for sale to the highest bidders, like Big Pharma, who gives $100K-$500k to most in Congress every year. And police unions buy guvs & police/lawyers have many seats in legislatures.

Cannabis had been used by over 1 billion people since our earliest recorded history, with zero proven fatalities as a direct result of use. Cannabis is not a cause of death, says Kaiser Permamente in a big 1997 study by this CA HMO. Donald Tashkin 2006 UCLA study: does not cause cancer, may reduce chances of cancer diagnosis by 10-25%. 56 other studies as of 2009 agreed it does not cause cancer.
Cannabis does not cause brain damage or have any other permanent effects.

Rick Simpson. formerly of Nova Scotia, CA, spent his entire life savings of $1.3 million curing people for free of cancer & other fatal illnesses, using cannabis oil. US ordered CA to arrest him. Rick fled to Europe, but you can still see his 58 minute Run From The Cure video online. Also some great You Tube videos on subject. Under cannabis cures cancer, top experts discuss what they've learned.

Time poll 25% of Americans say they are in chronic pain, so Docs & Big Pharma can't help all. I have about 20 medical problems & don't get much relief from Docs or Big Pharma, whose pills kill 125,000 Americans annually, used as directed. The average price of cannabis per ounce is over half my monthly income. So what options do I have if I want something other than constant pain, besides suicide?

You may be able to feel good & be happy without it, but not everyone is so fortunate. Best wishes.

For all mental health issues? Give a person suffering from scihzophrenia or some other psychotic illness cannabis and see what happens. Most likely their condition worsens. What ppl seem to forget is that cannabis is a hallucinogenic.

There isn't much difference in cannabis use between states that have jail & states that have only fines for simple possession of a small amount. After over 75 years of prohibition, there is now more cannabis use than ever before, 1 out of 6 Americans admit to using it.

The internet is educating those who wish to be educated. Cannabis can treat 126 medical conditions sometimes more effectively, more safely, & with fewer side effects than pills. It has a 0% rate of death regardless of amount used & for how long. The law that prohibited use is not based on medical facts or what used to be our Constitutional freedoms. If you should ever wish to know anything about something that could save the life of someone you care about, please see rxmarijuana.com/ Granny Storm Crow's list, & Wikipedia. Best wishes.
