This may sound like a silly question (because it is), but I've been practically addicted to Law and Order SVU over the past week and it seems like every episode is set in a different part of New York City, especially Manhattan. So, to those native New Yorkers and the "Bridge and Tunnel" people, has the filming Law and Order ever interfered with your day?

Believe it or not, most of the scenes in the newer episodes are done in front of a green screen. They'll send out a scout and a videographer to record locations and they'll shoot the scenes based on camera work.

Pretty unbelievable stuff:

Yes, they have filmed in the Convent Ave area a couple of times. It never really interfered because I don't park on the street, but they do park their trailers up an down the block an if I did street park it would interfere.

The best part is pretending you are an extra and sneaking free coffee and muffins from the refreshments tent.

Unless you park your car on the street or really just can't be buggered crossing the street most filming doesn't affect one's daily life. I live in an area which often has film sets (both movies and TV) and other than the occasional floodlight in the middle of the night nothing much to mention. Sometimes you can even get a free feed from the catering truck.

I would say no more inconvenienced than by other TV/Movies being filmed. I frequently see the "streets closed for ____ filming" and occassionally stumble by when something is being filmed, but can't say it's ever really annoyed me.

I work for a large company so a few times in the past they've sent a note out "not to be concerned" about certain things - like one of Will Smith's movies portrayed damage to the Brooklyn Bridge a few years ago and they sent a mass email out to everyone not to panic if they saw something from the office tower.

I've never knowingly run into any L&O shoots. Every time I see some filming going on I ask and it's ALWAYS a commercial.

They film by my job all the time - I work near Chambers Street. No inconvenience for me.
