I decided to "treat" myself to a new $130 ring and a $50 silver neck chain (I am a male) just to spice up my look a bit. one thing i didn't think about was is the chain so valuable that it will be robbed off me as well as the ring? i also put on an older marquis diamond ring($90 back in 1989) on my left finger in addition to the new ring on my right. i just like the image of the rings on my fingers. it's never been an issue since i rarely if ever wore rings or chains so i never thought about it.

or do the thugs target REALLY expensive jewelry? i am concerned when i am riding the trains or buses

Nobody is going to mess with you unless you are flaunting it all over the place- and even then they probably wouldn't. To steal a persons jewelery you really have to get close to them and demand they remove it. Most subway robberies are crimes of opportunity rather than violent crimes- i.e. person sitting next to train door listening to music and oblivious who gets their iphone snatched out of their hands as the doors are closing. You'll be fine.

50 quid neck chains are small potato's for jewelry thief's. If they try to pawn it they will be lucky if they get just 15$ Don't worry bout it..

if a thug wants to steal it, whether it's $50 or $500, they will. I wear a $700 necklace around my neck every single day. I wear my engagement ring and wedding band every day. I've never been on the bus and/or train during normal rush-hour time and felt concerned. If I were riding the train late at night and it's not very crowded then I would most likely conceal it.

I have a cigar band as my wedding ring diamonds all around and I wear it every day going to work. Sometimes I wear my Movado and my 1 karat diamond studs too. I dont worry about it. I work too hard for my stuff and my philosophy is if u want it come and get it. One of us aint leaving. I'm not a big dude either but the difference is I dont care.
