There is a good parents network and most of the new parents we have met say the same thing: Bay Ridge is a great place to start a family. We couldn't agree more!
Seems that the newspapers are starting to spread the word!
Congrats to the UES for top honors (my old nabe) :-)
Bay Ridge in Brooklyn is a true epitome of a true middle class NYC neighborhood. Who knew pickets poverty are still embedded in highly hip, gentry, helicopter parented Park Slope!
I saw the ccc pdf, in terms of raising a family in NYC it looks pretty sad. 1 in 4 New Yorkers depend on food stamps. A decade ago more money was earned and brought to familes tables and now its the complete opposite, wages are going down and most families spend money on rent more than anything else. Half ofball New York City kids live with both biological parents, a quarter of city kids live with a single mom, 5 percent live with a single dad, other rest with grand parent and or relatives. 1 in 3 city kids live in poverty.
