SMH.

Funny thing is 10 years ago that would not even be legal. Hell I don't even know if it is now. They are hyping up essentially a basement with pipes through it as luxury?

I'm sorry, but I like having windows, normal space, no fire hazards and sunlight coming in too much to settle for a room in a converted warehouse or a basement.

It isn't legal as far as I know, but the brazen move, posting on craigslist, made me wonder if the laws have changed recently. It must be in one of the HDFC buildings given the cross street, which is listed.

The "exposed brick ..!!!" is too much.

The problem is wait for one day in the summer when people are hanging in the alleyway next to that building. Or when one of those pipes hanging down bursts. Or the boiler (which I'm sure is around there somewhere) goes in the winter. The possibility of issues during rainstorms. Possible creepy crawlies coming in and invading your space because trash is thrown right by your front door. I've lived in a basement apt with pipes hanging like that once as a favor to a friend who owned the house. Never again.

It is not a lower-floor apartment, it is a basement - such as, a place where we store things and/or recover feral cats after tnr and many other things. What we do not do is live there, and we definitely do not command sums of money for others to live there. It is illegal, for one thing.

It is probably only illegal in a multi-family building.

Way to bust my bubble you two.
Honestly--I didn't think about that stuff.
I'll bet a lot of people wont either.
That would S U C K if even one of those things happened.
