i am a city looking for a 4 bedroom apartment and would like to know what nice areas their are and not to expensive. anywhere in queens or brooklyn but not to far from 33rd street. budget around 2500
Four bedroom apartments are pretty easy to find....on Fifth Avenue, Park Avenue and Central Park West. Oh, and you should have about five or six million dollars, too....But you won't have a view (that costs extra).

Need more info. Is this a budget for a share? I hope so, because there are few if any whole apartments anywhere for $800-$1000. And does this budget include utilities (electric, gas, cable) or can you pay extra?
If it's for a share and is just the budget for the apartment itself, you have many options open to you. I would recommend different areas depending on what trains you need to be near or where you are going to be commuting to every day (school/work) etc.

A nice area outside of Manhattan will probably run you around $1,400 and up for a 1-bedroom and $1,800-$2K for a 2-bedroom so it'll be hard to find a 4-bedroom with your budget.
Also, there are not many apartments with 4-bedrooms. Your best bet would be to find a house for rent and even then it's tough (almost impossible) to get a 4-bedroom for your budget in a nice area.

Try to look at a duplex or a large floor of a townhouse in Bayridge. There is planty of rowhouses and area not bad at all. I believe N train will take you to 33st. BTW do you need east or west part of 33rd st?
800 to 1000, you are probably looking at renting just a room or even sharing a studio in manhattan.
As a point of reference, I lived in a studio on the UWS near 90th and Bway in 2003. I paid $1800 for that space thats just over 300 sq ft.
Then I shared a two bedroom condo with a roommate later in battery park. we were paying $4200 a month.
