I remember driving over the GW when I went to visit family(I was born in 1980 in The Bronx and grew up in Rockland county NY), the towers always appealed to me but it was all I knew. I never thought that one day I would not see them perfecting the skyline.

That one large tower we call the freedom tower is rather dull, it does nothing for the skyline and it will never be the same. This is just my opinion.

I agree... Where I live at currently we used to be able to see the twin towers perfectly. We'd just have to walk to the corner and hit tonsor ave in Ridgewood and get a perfect view of the skyline and see those two beautiful buildings towering over the rest... When I look at it now all it does is give me nostalgia on how it used to be...

No disrespect intended for the new freedomtower but for those of us who grew up on the dual tower skyline, nothing will ever compare. It's almost as if the old NYC came crashing down with them.

I prefer the new design. The overall complex will look amazing when complete. My favs going up right now are Torre Verre and 56 Leonard though.

From where I live when we either take take the Belt Parkway, or simply ride our bikes along the bike trail, (we are along the harbor), where there is a un obstructed view of lower Manhattan....and to not see the towers there even though it has been many years, it is still very disturbing.

It is like looking at something but something is missing. The towers just belonged there. It will never be the same.

I was just thinking this today on my way to work. That new tower just doesn't do it for me. I miss pre-9/11 NYC.
