Now develop on some more of those parking lots.

I think it should be $175 to $200 per month, as that's what the market rate for a garage or driveway is in my outerborough neighborhood. I don't understand why we need to subsidize their apartments AND their parking. That's too much.

I feel it should be above market rate if the neighborhood is rich in mass transit connections.

In Chelsea they already built market rate housing on NYCHA parking lots. More lots will be leased out to developers soon, NYCHA is accepting bids.

I agree too. That's why I posted this. When I first saw the headline I thought maybe the parking was going up from 100 to 150 or something.I was shocked when I saw what the parking spaces cost and how little they will be even after the hike.Market rate parking in my neighborhood is 150/mo but the price for residents of Pelham Parkway Houses is $12 ? Something is very seriously wrong with that.

I read about the bids, but they could definitely expand the program many times.

One of the nicest buildings in have seen built on NYCHA grounds (under this new program) is in the Morrisania section of the Bronx, complete with a greenhouse.

What am I missing.

The link says:
Quote:
The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) announced that the cost of parking will increase by nearly 500 percent starting May 1 when new management takes over its lots. The price tag for one regular spot will go from $75 a year to $340, and the cost of handicapped and senior spots...

This conflicts with the thread title:

NYCHA Parking Spaces Going Up to $28/mo from $12/mo

Damn! I wish I could pay that. $185/month in the Bronx.
