You know, it's funny. I've been to every surrounding state outside of New York, and I've even gone to both Ontario and Quebec in Canada. But I've yet to visit SI... and it's not even that I don't want to go there, but I've just found no reason to go there as of yet in my life.
You're probably not the minority if you exclude people that claim they've been there just becaus they've gone over the Verrazano or did the 5 Boro Bike tour... I've been there but not frequently. There are some great parks though. Parks | Staten Island Tourism Officical Website: Visit Staten Island
I go there (rarely) because I have some family there. There are some historical landmarks and areas there, and like someone else stated, some park lands.

Am I in the minority here?
Your from the Bronx, right?
The Bronx probably has the lowest percentage of people with reason to visit SI.
I'm from Brooklyn, and visited regularly since childhood. Uncle lived there and had a busiiness there.
i've ridden through it many times. it would be cool if they had a subway
connecting it to brooklyn but it's too far and the verrazano is too high i
guess.

Come to think of it, I've never been to SI either. Don't know anyone who lives there except for a married couple and that was only recently. They eventually moved to California so chances are slim that I'll ever have a reason to visit SI. Been to upstate NY (Syracuse, Poughkeepsie, Dover, Pawling, Wingdale), parts of NJ, and my family has lived in all 4 boroughs at one time or another except SI.
I was born and raised in Queens and went to Staten Island more when I was in the Navy and my ship came to NYC than when I actually lived here. Growing up I didn't know anyon who lived there unlike the other boroughs so there never was a reason to go. You are definitely not in the minority.
