The early ones were written by hand. How long did it take for the DMV to do thatfor all drivers? Or perhaps the drivers themselves filled out the info.

But, what sort of ID was needed to get a DL? With no passports, no photos, no SSN, no credit cards, nothing but a birth certificate.
Interestingly, the address field was erasable!

Shocked that the photo is again b/w as it was until 70's! Harder to forge b/w than color?!

Oh wow. I love to see the evolution of technology. It was much easier to steal a persons identity as well. Just show up at the dmv and say you lost your id and give they name of the person who's identity you were trying to steal. Helped if you also looked like them.

I suspect the photos are laser engraved and VERY difficult to mess with.
