Luxury Arenas such as Yankee Stadium in the up and coming South Bronx and Barclays in heavy gentrified Brooklyn can shelter al of NYC homeless population. NYC homeless rate shot up under Bloomberg tenure. NYC has some of the highest rates of homelessness in the country. Homelessness during Bloomberg tenure is far worse than what it was under Dinkins from my vivid nostalgic perspective.
Many of the homeless have addiction issues. Should we house them and basically pay for them to be addicts? Some homeless people are even honest and will have signs up saying need money for booze and drugs.

Tourists and locals spend money at Barclay's and at Yankee Stadium. They generate economic activity. People watch their games on television. The homeless you glorify so much generate nothing for the city, and simply take, and take, and take.
