Ahh yes, the good ole' days. Paying a lot for a studio without any amenities and having to board the crowded train with rude people pushing and shoving. Dammit I miss those days!!!

The Tri-state area as a whole can get a bit old for a lot of people. This is a pretty beautiful country with some great spots to live.

LOL Whenever I post on the NYC board, I have to bring out the attitude to deal with all of the angry residents who secretly want to leave, but can't. Yeah NYC is a great place when you're fairly young, but after 30 life is so much better elsewhere.

I knew from your first post that you weren't really as happy as you were pretending..

Why are you staying in Maryland if you don't want to be there ?

Why can't they leave? Who handcuffed them?

They can leave but I imagine that employment is a big factor.

I'm happy it's just that ultimately I'd like to be surrounded by palm trees and year round warm weather. My problem is the cost of living in CALI, especially the Bay Area is high. I don't want to rent, I want to own and still have access to good nightlife and a vibrant city, so the DC metro area is ideal for me at this stage in my life.

Actually the real reason why many of these threads get made is because people realize they can't make the amount of money they need to in order to live their ideal lifestyle in NYC, so they move elsewhere with a lower COL, and then get all resentful and think we all deep down inside want to leave too. Smh.
