Now this is an interesting idea. Since the unions get a lot of the benefits from taxpayers, let THEM pay for the other costs of redistribution. The more funds can be freed up for better schools and other services. AW needs to articulate this to middle class households especially those who prioritize education.

I don't understand why people find this so hard to grasp. Uninsured people go into emergency rooms. And because they don't have insurance to do preventive care, by the time they end up in the hospital, their conditions are often very serious and extremely expensive to treat. Hospitals cannot turn them away and let them die in the streets. Who do you think is paying for this now?

Tell that to teachers, cops, firemen, and other city employees, who through no fault of their own, are being asked to pay 10-25% premiums because the city choses not to be more aggressive in working with the federal authorities against illegal immigration. Its not the city employees fault that some people chose to move here illegally and some businesses chose to illegally hire them.

Weiner just committed political suicide.

The cost is going to trickle down to tax payers one way or another. I for one would love to see municipal workers pay health premiums. If I have to pay, they should. (would help reduce the school taxes on LI..but that's another story).

That being said, illegal immigration is a big problem in this country and tax payers should not be burdened with the cost because the government doesn't know how to fix its problem.

Weiner looks like he could have played a character on the Sopranos. A good name for him might have been "Tony Putz".

Pensions should be cut by 100%. 401K is the only reasonable option for taxpayers
