Not necessarily, you can plead that you were attacked and you were defending yourself. Also do you think the cops are going to take some vagrant drunk's side over yours? No, they got more important things to deal with, like finding a place to eat at 2:30am. Arresting a smelly disgusting and possibly mentally ill derelict is the last thing they want to deal with (along with dealing with a fight between you two).
Also I'm not saying spend a good 10 minutes stomping the guy. Knock him to the ground, take a few shots and walk away. By the time the cops got there you'd be long gone.

I learned from experience that, when you call 911, always tell them you're injured. Otherwise, it will take them forever to come. I was once in a minor car accident, the police took 3 hours to get there, and the closest precinct was only 15 blocks away.

There's a homeless shelter at the corner of Lafayette & White street, it attracts all sorts of undesireables. They usually hang out on Walker st around the corner from 7/11 at Lafayette. There's usually 3 or 4 guys there or more, always at least one muttering loudly and complaining about something or other and usually 1 or two panhandling on the passing cars. At the very least those guys should be busted for loitering & public intoxication, and urinating in the phone booth. I've seen little chinese women being verbally harassed as they walk by. Once I saw a guy in a wheelchair just sitting in the middle of Broadway blasting his radio as cars whizzed by.

If you want cop action you just have to recruit a half dozen or so people in the neighborhood to show up at the next community hearing and yell at them. Someone from the top of the chain of command will send the orders through and the cops will blanket the area for a little while and clean it up

The cops are becoming fancier by the day. Donuts don't do the trick anymore. You can't expect a cop to drop a 5 course meal because of some drunk harassing you.

Unless you live in Florida.

Its not just cops who are eating when they get a call. Paramedics do that too. Its disrespectful to arrive on the scene where someone might be dying chewing on a burger with mayonnaise all over the uniform.

I think what this story demonstrates is we should always break out our camera phones and start recording these douchebags at work. There is very little accountability in the NYPD.

The problem with fighting hobos is you can get hep C or HIV from pounding on the guy if you bloody your knuckles

Anyways, on that corner is a Bank of America. They have surveillance cams running 24/7. Walk into the precinct, fill out a report and demand that they go get the footage
