Its not about friendship, its simply about their RELATIONSHIP as two distinct cultural/ethnic/common ancestral groups.

If you don't think African Americans and Puerto Ricans get along WELL in New York City, you're either lying or in serious denial. Expediency? Please choose your words wisely.

In NYC and other cities as well many Blacks and Puerto Ricans live in the same neighborhoods and buildings, go to the same schools, many have grown up together and work together.

The same goes for African Americans and other Caribbean groups.

Saying they don't get along or intermarry is quite STUPID and even further shows your stupidity.

Please get over your anger, denial, and attempt to speak for all black people born, raised, and living in NYC.
This is why I speak out against collectivism of any time. No one can speak for All Black people or all Black people born in NYC. We're all different people.

As for how Puerto Ricans and African Americans, to be honest there's a lot of not just racism but colorism in the Puerto Rican and Dominican communities. This is true among AAs, as well. Example, a light skinned Puerto Rican guy I know called a Black man a gorilla. He pointed at my Black leather shoes and said that Gordon (the dude's name) is as Black as nywriterdude's (not my real name, inserting my screen name in place of my real name) black leather shoes. This does not excuse Philly for making racist comments or being hateful towards interracial couples. But there is prejudice between the two groups and it goes both ways. There are Blacks in NYC that can't deal with anything not African American or Anglo/Caribbean.

Black males which is a sex are more likely to date outside their race then other male groups when comparing the figures to their race.

The reason why mestizos marry with whites is seen as more plentiful is because there are more Hispanics then blacks in this country.

Raw numbers do not tell you anything since all the populations have different figures.
Keep in mind some Hispanics are white. It wasn't seen as a big deal in the 1940s for Lucille Ball to be married to her Cuban husband because he was CONSIDERED WHITE.

"The study finds that 8.4 percent of all current U.S. marriages are interracial, up from 3.2 percent in 1980. While Hispanics and Asians remained the most likely, as in previous decades, to marry someone of a different race, the biggest jump in share since 2008 occurred among blacks, who historically have been the most segregated.

States in the West where Asian and Hispanic immigrants are more numerous, including Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico and California, were among the most likely to have couples who "marry out" - more than 1 in 5. The West was followed by the South, Northeast and Midwest. By state, mostly white Vermont had the lowest rate of intermarriage, at 4 percent.

Yes, Hispanic is not a race.

Being Afro-Latino myself I know both groups well.

There are many who just as black or even more African than African Americans.

When many African Americans, Anglo Caribbeans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans intermarry, some of them aren't even interracial. Maybe inter-ethnic.

Culturally Afro Latinos tend to much more African than so called African Americans. You've the African based religions such as candomble, santeria, etc. in Latin America, plus you've much heavier African influences in music, language, art, and food, etc. Some of the Afro Latinos all about into the African based religions (at the level of priesthood) can even speak Yoruba or certain other African languages (depending on where they came from ancestrally in Africa and how much of it was preserved within their community in Latin America).

I'm not sure why some African Americans act as if "black" began and ended in the United States.

Hahahaha. Interracial marriages in general are up, and Blacks marrying non Blacks (not just whites, others) has shown the biggest increase (not just Black men, Black women as well).

Blacks and Puerto Ricans are the poorest groups in the city, which is why they live together in many neighborhoods. It's why many may have relations with one another.
