At first , i was under the impression that this was a working man raging against corporate america. He insinuates that he is over-worked and underpaid. That he can barely provide for his family, etc. BUT after doing a little research this is not the case. His wife and him own a kids business in BK, his wife is also the VP of marketing for Diesel USA. This guy was also making a good weekly salary. (roughly around 1,500)
$15/hour x 40 hrs x 52 weeks = 31,200.00 (this is before tax) and 3% commission at Lacoste.(i believe this is where he made his real money)
He wants to live a creative class Manhattan/Brooklyn lifestyle with kids—and $80,000 is not a lot of money in those circumstances. One could argue if that’s a reasonable expectation working retail, but he’s hardly a “better haves.”
If he’s that good of a salesman he should have been working at a store with a higher price point.
You're warped, Ryu. $1500 a week is not that much even if net for a 4-person family, and the article says it was a max figure.
Guy's a moron, though- you cant get yourself fired when you have 2 young kids.
1500 a week is his salary. His wife also works. She is the VP of marketing at Diesel USA. (look at her Linked in). They also at one point had a business which they sold. (who knows the $$ amount).
1500 a week is probably on a good week. During the busy season, it can ballooned up.
No, it was $15 per hour salary. Unless you think he works 100 hours a week, he is not making $1500 per week before commission.
15.00 is the base but he makes 3% commission. Supposedly he is the top salesman at the store. Also, the screenshot of the check seems like he was paid 2K.

That's decent salary but there are better pay rates out there in high end retail sales. He definitely should have tried to get a job elsewhere instead of what he did or better yet wait a little longer put together some stats and ask for a raise.
All things being consider I do think the store overreacted as well but that has become typical in this age. I don't think I would let a top salesmen go like that.

There was a comment on the gothamist saying that he worked at Bloomingdale's SoHo. He was fired due to a verbal argument with another employee.
