Brooklyn
1. Park Slope in a brownstone overlooking Prospect park
2. Bay Ridge (any where between Ridge and Shore Rd, and 75th St and up). The areas outside of this are either riffraffy or too close to the water treatment facility. I would love one of those beautiful house in the 80's streets.
3. Brooklyn Heights (just about anywhere)
4. Williamsburg (only one of the water front properties on Kent Ave)

Manhattan
5. West Village
6. UES overlooking central park

I like having a car and being able to find parking without driving around for a half hour. Yes, you will have a little trouble finding parking in those neighborhoods in Brooklyn but it's no where near as bad as it is to find parking in the city. Also I'm getting tired of the city and it's crowds. Brooklyn has the best of both worlds in my opinion.

Forest Avenue in Ridgewood. Tons of bodegas, many East European restaurants, great access to transportation, and diversity.

Right where I am, in beautiful Greenpoint. However, I would send a lot of my neighbors back home to Wisconsin.

I already live in West Village but my dream is to have one of those townhouses on like Perry or 11th

I find it surprising how many prefer a Brooklyn brownstone vs a townhouse or penthouse in Manhattan.

I would also prefer a Brooklyn brownstone. The convenience to Manhattan is there but you also have a more neighborhood feel and a relief from tourists.

That would have been the case 20+ years ago but Brooklyn is just more desirable now. Don't get me wrong I would love a townhouse in Manhattan but Brooklyn is just so charming. You feel stuck in Manhattan while you can breathe in Brooklyn.

Brownstone somewhere in Bk would be my second choice. Followed by a PLG limestone.

A brownstone in Prospect Heights, probably.

Or alternatively: a giant Art Deco apartment, with lots of windows. I've seen buildings like that on the Upper East Side.
