Oh please? Are you serious? People can date whatever they want. I'm more surprised a 30 year old would date someone that's 68.

Not really news. After looking at the photo, I beg to differ on the term "losing". More like "good riddance". In the bigger scheme of things it's totally understandable that certain people want to move up the social ladder. It's really nothing new, I forgot where I read it from a long time ago, the same thing occurred with Italian and Irish women immigrants to the US a hundred years ago, but of course that was not interracial, but just inter-cultural relationships which was still frowned upon at the time. We live in a male dominate society, it's much easier for women to be more "open" to men of other races than men. At the same time the allure of being with a "submissive" smart successful woman is too much to pass up for any man whether Asian or not. So there you have it. It's much more of a taboo for women of any race to be in a relationship with someone not from her own race. Even in 2013, it's still frowned upon, (e.g. lots of White men have issues with White women with Black men and vice versa). So maybe that's where you're coming from.

No Asian person with money or power would think that there's anything special about her, so if she finds a well to do guy from another race that thinks she's the s**t good for her. Just hope she doesn't wind up like Wendy Deng. Then again that was perhaps Wendy Deng's goal anyway.

What does a retired general have to offer on his ladder at 68 to an MIT grad with a growing business of her own? It must be more about the chemistry than any social ladder issue.

Oh I'm sorry I see retired Asian generals do this all the time. My bad. But for whatever the reason it's her decision, whether she has a grandpa fetish that caused the chemistry or whatever it was.

Asian American women are hypergamist, more so than any other women in any racial group.

An asian friend (of a friend) who is ~40 and a physician who recently married a 60yo caucasian american who was a researcher but had to retire early. He is an average american without any known social ladder work for her but having to support two college children of his. I believe the marriage between them is more chemical attraction, so are there many others. This love story is reported mainly because of Clark's status. There are a lot of unreported love/marriage between average people that won't remind peope of the ladder climbing factor in their love.
