Anyway hows it a long journey? - its about 15-20 mins from Grand Central. 7 two stops then walk over the Pulaski bridge or the 7 three stops to the G then 2 stops.
Definitely closer than say the UWS for example. Can't remember the last time I needed to go north of 65th st. These days there's more reason to go to brooklyn or queens.
My great-grandfather built the home on Freeman he raised his family in -- my 2nd great-grandpanrents, great-grandparents and 6 kids. [2500 sq. feet would not fly for 10 people nowadays in most places] The pics I have from 1890 to 1920 are of a part wood / part brick house, built by German carpenters in the family. I googled it. The porch is gone and it is sided. So much for renovation.

It would be nice to see pics of those old houses before the siding went on. They had to have looked alot better than they do now.
Google maps should collect all of the old tax photos and create an old street view option. Anyone know of a site with old photos of brooklyn, queens and the Bronx?
