Are there good, ethnically diverse restaurants in the area? Is it loud at night or on the weekends? If you live there or have lived there what are your expiriences?
you're two blocks from city college, which is about the only reason i can think of for an out-of-towner to move there. there are better neighborhoods for the same $. even the other side of city college (west) is a little better

it's not great safetywise. i wouldn't be afraid living there or anything, but i've lived in the city most of my life. depending on where you're coming from, there might be an uncomfortable culture shock. if you look like a target, you might have some trouble. if you're a woman, you might get a lot of catcalls

as far as restaurants, no. it is one of the worst parts of the city for dining

It sucks for dining. I never touched any of those restaurants, except when desperate. I mean, like... feed me... I'm about to pass out desperate. I heavily relied on Fairway. I learned how to cook well. Because there was... quite simply... nothing there. Just the thought of those restaurants makes me sick. How they are in business with a profit, given the sh(t they serve... I will never know. I am an amazing cook because of things like this. When my guy asks me why I'm such an amazing cook I feel hesitant to tell him. But that is why. The quality of food was so bad I nearly went anorexic. I stopped eating at one point and went down to 94 pounds. My family worried. If it wasn't for Fairway I probably would stop eating again. But there are no restaurants there, so get that retarded pretty thought out of your head. Hipster.

The dining situation is improving a little in Harlem. That being said you are a short train ride away from UWS/Morningside Heights which has tons of restaurants if you are a regular restaurant explorer. I don't happen to love most of the St. Nick stretch although there are some lovely old buildings.
