Safest way to get to 3159 Flatbush Ave? (Floyd: transfer, college)

The 4,5,6 trains are closest to me where I live in manhattan. I'd like a general overview of the safety of the area and what the best way to get there is.

The website of the facility has MTA directions. I don't know anything about the safety of the area, though.

The address is for Floyd Bennett Field. It used to be an airfield years ago.

There really isn't anything else around it; it's not in a residential area at all. The closest populated areas are Breezy Point on the Rockaway Peninsula and Mill Basin, both of which are separated from Floyd Bennet Field by water.

That's the only way there by mass transit. Take the 5 when it goes out to Brooklyn College, get off at the last stop and transfer. The Q35's terminal is right by the Target and Applebee's at the (Flatbush) Junction. The OP will have a long ride.
