Well, the City Council passed a law creating an inspector general, and making it a lot easier to file profiling claim. So the city has rebuked Bloomberg's stop and frisk as well.
The NYPD has come up with a compelling retort to the idea that it's running a stop-and-frisk operation that should die. A week after federal Judge Shira Scheindlin appointed a federal monitor to ride herd on the embattled program, the NYPD announced the largest gun bust in city history. The details are a reminder that stop and frisk needs mending -- not ending.
The final box score on the gun takedown: 19 people under arrest, accused of taking part in a gunrunning ring stretching from the Carolinas to Brownsville, Brooklyn, and 254 firearms confiscated -- 243 handguns, nine rifles and two shotguns. Among this weaponry, say police, were fully automatic assault weapons and a machine gun.
Then comes this priceless snippet of conversation that police overheard on a wiretap: "Yeah, I'm in Charlotte now. I can't leave until you come, 'cause I can't take [the guns] to my house, to my side of town, 'cause I'm in Brownsville . . . We got like -- whatchamacallit -- stop and frisk." Score one for the NYPD.
The anti-gun nuts should be happy how stop and frisk helps stop black market guns from flooding into NYC.

The "damned good reason" is the greater good, namely for the law-abiding citizens of the neighborhoods where most crimes occur. There people are overwhelmingly in favor of stop-and-frisk. Stop-and-frisk targets blacks and Latinos because 92% of homicides are caused by blacks/Latinos.
1) It is unconstitutional to target people of a particular race. It is not illegal to be black or latino.
2) Apparently they aren't the only ones targeted by stop and frisk White Woman Sues NYPD Over Invasive Stop-And-Frisk In Williamsburg: Gothamist
3) Nothing is in the "greater good" if it involves depriving people of their rights.
That's a very immature attitude. I was banged into the other day by another male who didn't apologize. By your account, I should begrudge that individual forever and anyone who is like him. Sounds very immature and insecure to me.
Immature? Not at all. Here's the truth. A Terry stop consists of stopping a person and questioning them and if deemed necessary due to the seriousness of the crime or for the officer's safety, POSSIBLY frisk. HOWEVER, when a cop is directed in so many words or less, that the commanding officer of the precinct needs that cop to stop at least say 10 or 20 people a month, it's a quota and it's illegal. Now, add race into the mix and its goes even further downhill.
I know cops have a tough job to do. I just don't think it's right to search someone for B.S. because if they don't step up their activity, they will be denied a day off, or put on a least desirable post in the precinct. When you S.Q.F. someone because of a quota, you’re bound to run the gambit of crossing the line into a lawsuit or having a judge deem the actions as unconstitutional, and run the risk of being independently monitored.
Judging by your name, Somewhere in Time, I can imagine you’re probably still living in the 1800's with your attitude.

That's interesting. I just want to make sure that you don't support quotas at all because there are quotas for universities that I'm sure you know benefits certain groups more than others.
