I checked out Lenny's Thanksgiving Sandwich today. It was okay, but not as good as those in Massachusetts. I'll give Carve a try next.

I was born and raised in Manhattan, while my work has taken me to 5 other continents and myriad countries I do at times wish our fair borough paid a little more culinary attention to "American" food.

I make a pretty nice one with leftovers the day after. I get a nice italian hero or baguette, i use the leftover turkey give it a nice warmup, toast the bread a little, mayo optional, then I lay on top some leftover potato salad over the turkey. This is dominican style potato salad so it's not lumpy, the potatoes are broken up a bit. Not sure it would work well with lumpy potato salad. You can add other stuff if you want, but i usally just keep it simple.

While not appetizing it may work. Mayo isn't tart so in theory it shouldn't taste bad combined with the cranberry. If you were combining it with something else that was tart or had a sourness to it like mustard it would be too much.

Mayo and cranberry is more disgusting to me than mustard and cranberry. I saw a turkey and lingonberry sandwich, with dijon mustard on the bread, a few times on menus.

Boston Market has a seasonal Thanksgiving sandwich, they also have a normal turkey sandwich. They are a chain but I am not sure if they have locations in NYC.

I'm an immigrant, I love a good Thanksgiving sandwich. I like Vietnamese sandwiches too.
You come off like a dingdong.

I also think mayo is a poor choice for flavor with the cranberry; real butter is better than mayo here.

I'm with you on both counts. For me it's one or the other (mayo or cranberry or lingonberry). The deli at work makes this sandwich but no mayo and no mustard unless you actually ask for it. I found with the cranberry I didn't need another wet ingredient.
