To understand The West Indian Parade & Juve you must be knowledgable about the Caribbean , their history ,culture and customs. Something you clearly lack.
Most people wear elaborate costumes which have much detail and stories behind them and folklore stories.
This a day that they use sing ,dance , eat and show pride of everyone's Carribean roots.
I will not school you because that's why God gave us Google and Wikipedia.

Yes, unfortunately this event is sometimes marred by voilence ..but 95% of the attendees go to enjoy the festivites and its a few bad apples that do something stupid and that takes the 10 o clock headlines.
