Why don't you alert the super to what it is? I'm sure they'll know and recommend something.
From what you're describing it sounds like it might be a centipede. They're harmless and only seem to come out when it's cold outside in certain neighborhoods.

My bet is on this. They are big and move awkwardly. They are a lot dumber than smaller roaches I find. They also like to come out around the time the seasons change.

I just killed a water bug last night down in the basement near the meter room. I used a piece of Bounty
sheet to grab it off the floor and squeezed it once, and then release the pressure to see if it's still alive.
The damn bug jumped off the sheet and tried to run away. I was kind of in panicky mode and smack it
with the sheet again and squeezed it much harder this time, maybe a little too hard that black colored
fluid came out of the water bug.
This was not the first time I killed a water bug, but never seen black fluid from their carcass before.
I used lysol to disinfect that area and washed my hands extra long afterward. It's one of the more
disgusting water bug killing experience in a long while.
