LMAO. San Diego has worse air quality than a lot of L.A. It's complex as to why, but true. And you can very rarely ever see air pollution in L.A. On super clear days in the winter you can. But not any other time of the year. You think you're looking at air pollution, but that is haze which is a partial fog. At the coast it may be completely overcast and then that fog/cloud layer gradually is lessened as you move inland away from the coast. But, what's left is haze that makes it hard to see far off onto the horizon. While I'm not trying to say there is no pollution in that air, I'm just pointing out you aren't seeing it. You're seeing a partial fog. The air quality in L.A. is for the most part better than or no worse than Manhattan.
Glad to hear that. BF has asthma and I was a bit concerned about moving to LA since I keep hearing about how bad the air quality is there.
By the way, I've never heard of such a stereotype that people in NYC hate LA. Most people have never been there and pay almost no mind to that city at all. Why would they?
That's terribly misleading. The reason is they loop Riverside in with L.A. Again, not to get to scientific, but wind patterns dictate a few areas are much worse than the rest. The strong wind currents mostly blow inland off the coast. The pollution is shifted east towards the San Bernadino mountains. The mountains tend to create a bit of a wall and push much of that air south down towards San Diego. The air quality in the L.A. basin-where a huge % of the population lives- is a) better than Manhattan and b) still just a portion of the region included in the link above.

If L.A. is the choice, stay south/west of the major mountain ranges in the region. The valleys and inland areas are the only places where air quality may sometimes affect quality of life. The air quality stats so prominently floated for L.A. include the entire region, including far away places like Riverside and San Bernadino. The poor air quality ratings in those areas weigh down the stats for the whole region.
Yes, but they're not "forced" or "led" to these neighborhoods on purpose. They CHOOSE to live in them, unlike here in NYC.
In LA, if you can afford to live in a neighborhood or pay the rent, they DON'T CARE WHAT RACE YOU ARE.
Also, I don't find the black populace to be as large there as in NYC. I also never frequented the black areas of town as I had no business there to conduct. Most of the blacks I met in LA were transplants like me from other cities. We had a different mindset about the place than born and bred LA blacks probably have due to "past" experiences.
They're not as judgmental as NYC. Like I said, they are very "live and let live".
Now with the "image" thing, I'll give you that. This is true. Tons of fakeness, but you just "go with it".
It's easy to recognize bs in that city.
In the end this is subjective and this is just our opinions. Agree to disagree.
This is partly true but mostly stereotype. Transplants from NYC who move to LA in general say they hate LA. Everyone else from NYC doesn't "hate" LA unless its about sports. In NY, we hate Boston (Yankees hate the Red Sox), we hate Dallas (Giants hate the Cowboys)...for a very long time we hated Chicago because of Michael Jordan...it's easy to hate the Lakers. Other than that, there is no general hatred towards LA...or Chicago...or Des Moines...or Baton Rouge. I've lived in NYC my whole life and LA never came up unless it was about some game that we won or lost. There is the segment of the NYC population that is in the entertainment industry who may have a strong opinion about LA. The rest of us (I think we are in the majority) have no issue with LA...but to be honest we don't even think about it.

Actually, nobody hates the Red Sox in NYC anymore, people just don't care in general about hating other teams. If you want the other extreme of that behavior, just go see people in Philadelphia - neanderthals
