Exactly. Generally speaking, African Americans throughout the country are not in competition with recent immigrants, unless the AA is unskilled/low income and/or in and out of jail.

I don't know why people try to declare most African Americans invisible and only pretend that housing project African Americans exist.
There's a number of low income African Americans in NYC who reside in public housing; therefore, most assume that the majority of African Americans in the U.S. are low income as well. Many of these people have no exposure to middle class and/or upper income African Americans. They may see a few, but they don't know any personally.

As for the descendants of immigrants go, we are all descendants of foreigners, African Americans included.
Native Americans are the only true non immigrants in the U.S.

While its true there are a number of low income African Americans who reside in public housing, there are a number of African Americans who live in parts of Queens and the North Bronx who are HOMEOWNERS who DRIVE cars to work and work in fields like education, hospitals, civil service, or the MTA. I'm curious as to why people pretend this doesn't exist?

I guess these people are merely speaking about where they live and who they interact with.

More and more low income jobs are being taken by Mexicans and Chinese so Blacks and Puerto Ricans and moving out being out competed.

Even black business owners can't survive because they can't find quality low cost black workers.

Even college educated/skilled Blacks and Hispanics are facing greater competition with the influx of all the transplants

It's not only AAs and Puerto Ricans that are moving south...many middle classed people period are doing it for reasons that appeal to just about everyone -- more for your dollar, in some cases less taxation, safety....

That is correct...Italians have been leaving for quite some time...much of the boroughs (except Staten Island) really just have the old guard Italians holding on..the younger kids have already left. Same applies to PRs...I see lots of the old guard in traditional PR neighborhoods, but alot of their kids/grandkids are long gone to PA, FL, Texas, NJ...with some moving up to middle class nabes like Pelham Bay, Throgs Neck.

This is a normal migration up and out...nothing new here, unless you haven't noticed that the Germans, Dutch, British, Irish etc are basically all gone. MIGRATION NOT FLEEING.

Why would black business owners be restricted to only hiring black workers? Can't they just hire the best person for the job?

If you're college educated, you can apply for jobs in all 50 states. You are aware of that, aren't you. In fact, in some cases you can even apply for work overseas and get sponsored for a VISA.

Really, this nonsensical victimization is getting old and tired. The above post is really insulting and derogatory towards Blacks and Hispanics.

Black and Puerto Rican do not equal low income (for that matter, nor do Mexicans and Chinese). People who make it and move up in the world financially have always left NYC. Who wants to live in a tiny apartment if you can get a job that affords you a house and a car?

Oh, and just like Blacks and Puerto Ricans, if they can afford it, a lot of Mexicans and Chinese move to the suburbs or other places as well.

Correct. Many middle class Jews move to fort lauderdale Fl. Italians move to Fl and NC. Even Caribbean New Yorkers are moving south. Who ever wins the next mayoral race should try to do a better job im perserving a middle class that once made NYC a great place to live and raise a family.
