I don't shortsell that being an NYC cop might be tough job but, there are standards that must be met, in this case, minimal marksmanship standards. When a job is tough, you are supposed to find tougher candidates, not lower the bar.

In the same way you generally don't hire 5ft 95lb chicks to work a stockroom (usually because heavy lifting is explicitly required) you shouldn't hand weapons or assign tough beats to people who could miss 2 garbage cans at 25 or 30ft (roughly the size of a human).

you also have to remember that there were several people standing there and watching the whole drama unfold. If i were to see 7 to 10 cops with their weapons drawn i am not standing around to watch.

AFAIK, there are no longer minimum height or weight requirements for the NYPD. So, you will see 5-foot-tall, 95-pound female officers. Since 95% of the NYPD will never fire their weapon off the range in an entire career, the emphasis on marksmanship has slid as well.

wats worse is u see too many overweight nypd
if u look at other depts, nypd is quite fat and sloppy
