it's in Washington Heights. You can take the A train to 175 station. It's a safe area in Wash Heights. They are several restaurants within walking distance of United P.
i never been inside so i have no idea what it is inside.
Good Dominican Food on B'way between 168th and 175th. Some are better than others so make sure you stick your head inside for look'sy before you sit down.
If you have some time to kill the shopping district on 181st st. will keep you occupied for a few blocks...some outdoor mercados/markets to look at. The DR in NYC. I do like the vibe in that area...Dominicans are very friendly.
By the way WHAT concert are you going to ? Sounds like a latin music concert...Un Bachaton ?
Thanks for the great info, I'm always nervous about going to parts of NYC I've never been to. We are going to see Jack Johnson, well my wife is, I'm just there to pay.
Also, they usually have some streets closed off with people selling stuff.. similar to a flea market type thing. I agree, a few good restaurants and you got ur usual places like BBQ's also a place called carrot top bakery its kool as well.
Going to a concert at the United Place next week but we've never been in that area before.
What is the area like?
What is the palace like?
Any nice restaurants close by?
Best way to get there from our hotel in Soho?
Thanks in advance.
Theater is much nicer on inside than outside. Nice smaller venue to catch a live show. For restaurants stick with Dominican since it is a Dominican area. Malecon is probably best bet.

Jack Johnson, ouch.
But yeah don't worry nothing to worry about. Malecon stays open late too.
To get in/out your right by A train on Fort Wash, also plenty of cabs around there.
I've never been in the Palace but I've seen photos of the interior -- it's majestic.
There's a place on the other side of Broadway (maybe a block up?) called Pick n Eat, that's a nice casual restaurant (with a bar).
But I'll agree, the chicken at El Malecon is to die for.
