The truth is racism is a neutral thing that every group feels towards other groups who are different. In the case, people say a lot of things. Play me the recording or it is a matter of he said she said.

i believed she said it right out and didn't think anything was wrong with it. she barely denied and then started rambling about the other woman being racist.. quite classic..most of my racist encounters have been with foreign people(how annoying, you're not even legal yet) i guess at least she told (even though it really hurts), you can turn water into wine but most employers just won't hire you if they don't like your race and you'd have no idea why
Somehow, this is not much worse than being rejected because you are black/white/asian but they did not tell you the exact reason and instead make up another excuse for rejecting you. So do you prefer an honest rejection or a rejection plus being lied to?
Human racial discrimination will exist as long as they all still live on the earth, whether it is open or discrete.
No this is better because it brings awareness and you get money from the case
This post sums up why backwater Americans can never approach assembling a kitchen that produces delicious cuisine. Most Americans can't even comprehend how good food is made since they don't release the context of just how bad the food they regularly consume is.
Not surprised one bit this incident happened in Middle Village, which is like Howard Beach Lite.
I don't mean to bash Middle Village--it's by and large a lovely area, and I'm sure most folks there are nice, family-oriented people. But whenever you have a neighborhood that is largely Italian-American, you're going to find a good chunk of people who kind of believe in that old school, "we stick to our kind" type of thinking.
I don't think this lady is hateful toward blacks or meant any harm. I think she meant to say "look, things around here are a certain way, and with you being black I think I risk getting negative comments from a few customers, and you risk becoming the subject of harrassment, and I would rather just avoid the situation altogether." There were risks involved she was unwilling to take and she was upfront about it.
Look, I married someone of a different race. Because of that there are things I have to deal with that other couples (of the same race) don't have to deal with. It's definitely EASIER to stick to your own kind. I think this woman just didn't want to deal with any headaches. She wanted the easy route. And you know what, that's her right. Doesn't make her a bad person. Some people are down to fight for a cause and others are not. Doesn't make one right and the other wrong.

I feel bad for the girl though.
Well, let's see how her business is affected now.
What do Italian-Americans have to do with this? If I'm not mistaken, neither owner is Italian.

Way to stereotype against one ethnicity when in fact this would be the case for any neighborhood that is predominantly one ethnicity, not matter what ethnic background or race.
The government should have zero say in the hiring practices of private businesses. If I was a business owner I'd hire only who I want, for whatever reasons I decide. If anyone has a problem with that, they can exercise their right not to provide me with business. Our government is way too involved in our lives and it is only getting worse.
