All that aside, Mr. Blake is very picky-choosy in regards the Constitution anyway. He/She is very anti-2nd Amendment, which is interesting considering it is one of the easiest to understand.

I'm not anti-2nd, I'm all for it. A well armed militia can be useful. But that amendment has zero to do with personal gun rights, however

There used to be a gourmet eatery in NY called Burke&Burke(still around? Not sure). I worked in one in the '90's. Owned by russians. I heard the owner say once he didn't want blacks in FOH(front of house) positions. He had us doing phone orders in a small room in the basement of the place. Didn't want blacks on the register, etc. NYC, even back then, was a lot more racist than people think. I have no problem believing this happened.

Pick any largely Italian-American neighborhood in New York City and these are the areas in which you will unfortunately find a higher percentage of racist attitudes toward people of color. I am NOT saying all Italian-Americans are racist. But if you are black and go into Howard Beach, Middle Village, Morris Park, Whitestone, Bay Ridge, and huge chunks of Staten Island, you're at an increased risk of being subjected to "what are you doing here?" looks.

I've even experienced this in the Little Italy's of Cleveland and Boston (North End). Again, it isn't so much a hateful attitude as it is an old school, "we keep to our own," attitude. Greeks and Albanians are similar. It even goes beyond race to just disliking outsiders of any kind.

Other ethnic groups do NOT do this. No one is going to turn me away because I am white. Someone might turn me away because I don't speak a particular language and that language is necessary to communicate to their clientele, but no one is going to look at me and say, "sorry, I can't hire you because you're white."

And again, everyone is different. I'm not hating on Italian-Americans or calling them all racists. But in this specific case, I am not surprised to see the owner of a bakery in an Italian-American neighborhood turn away a black applicant because of her race. And again, I don't think the owner is a bad person or anything; I think it was simply a business decision.

EXACTLY MY POINT!

I think the owner here believed her clientele would not like to see a black face at their bakery.

Ask yourself when was the last time you saw a black person working at any Italian or Greek restaurant, bakery, ice cream parlor, etc.

Of course. And now she will be forced to deal with the consequences.

Yup, it's only us white people who are bad. Although since you said that this isn't what you're saying, of course I believe you.

This is why I couldn't care less about being called racist anymore. Why should we? Non-minorities are considered racist either way. Might as well embrace it.

What is with you singling out Italian Americans?!?!?! The owners of the bakery are NOT Italian. And don't tell me other ethnic groups don't do this. If that's what you think then you need to get out more often. Come to my neighborhood, which is predominantly Italian and see if black people are not working in bakeries or other stores.

Have you been to Howard Beach lately? Give it a rest already. Those days are over.

I lived near Bayside/Whitestone and I often shopped on Utopia/45th Ave. Don't tell me there aren't black people working there because Italians don't want them there.

No Airborne, apparently it's only us Italians who are bad people. God forbid I go into West Hempstead at one of the Spanish restaurants and feel like I'm invisible because I'm not "one of them". But that can't be because no other ethnic groups do that, right?
