6 or more units for your place gives you the right to have interest on your security deposit. simple as that.

you won't be able to squeeze out any more security interest based on the details you have provided

in my old place which i rented for 14 years i think i made a total of $90 in security deposit interest

When I lived in Rego Park (I'm now in AZ), I DID get a very tiny amt of interest, which was 95% "eaten up" by the landlord's "Administration fee".
