There's mixed reviews on NYPD presence on people's blocks. Some people suggest this means your neighborhood has high crime, others believe this makes them feel safer. Catch 22. What do you think?

I'm not in NY, but I do believe in more police presence.

After being robbed by thugs more than once, I absolutely love NYPD presence on the blocks when I was
living in Ridgewood. As soon as I saw a police officer or police cruiser around after getting off the subway
I would feel relieved knowing I'm safe walking home that day/night. Thugs usually hide like cockroaches
when cops are around. There is no catch 22 here, if your neighborhood is a low crime area, police presence
will only make it safer. If it's a high crime area, still same result if more police presence on the blocks.
If you're not from NYC, then you can't really comment on police presence in NYC, can you, now?
How is it any different than police presence anywhere else in the country? Unless you're referring to stop and frisk laws, or other anomalies of police presence in NYC that may or may not apply to other cities.

How do you get robbed in Ridgewood man? What!? Roughly what location and era are we talking about here. People wouldn't even reach for a hundred dollar bill there if you dragged it behind you with thread on a breezy day.

In fact, almost all my friends and neighbors from Ridgewood area got robbed one time or another between
late 90s to early 2000s. It happen to me and my father around Seneca Ave after getting off the subway.
Ridgewood change for the better only after around 2003 or 2004.
I'm white, so seeing cops makes me more comfortable. If I wasn't, they wouldn't.
